Next we find Cinderella, in tears, at the hearth, apparently
totally defeated and humiliated. The humble
state is well know in Mystery Schools. Cinderella gets her name
from her duties which include cleaning the cinders and ashes from
the hearth in the kitchen. This humbling work seems necessary to
get distance from the discouraging voice of WSM. The Phoenix rises
out of ashes and ashes symbolize the burning away of constraints.
Suddenly, the Fairy God Mother(FGM) appears. When it all
seems "impossible," FGM waves her magic wand, transforming
living material into horses and carriage. FGM's
wand, like a staff or mace, is a symbol of power and authority,
in many cultures and philosophies.
FGM produces garments befitting a Princess including the Glass
Slippers! Later, we learn that these Glass Slippers are are so unique
that only Cindy can wear them! It is this "transparent"
medium which is the test of her worthiness. As in real life, nothing
is handed to us without conditions of our commitment and determination.

The FGM points out that Cindy needs to return home before midnight.
Failure to do so will mean all power to move from place to place
along with her clothing will be taken from her. Some
spiritual scholars would suggest the clothing was symbolic of a
radiance emitted by Cindy because of her humility and disciple to
follow instructions from FGM. For most of us, we would imagine that
such an energy field would take some time and care to develop.
We could say that following instructions
from FGM was Cindy's connection with FGM. It is no stretch of imagination
to suppose that FGM, thus, is Cindy's Inner Voice. Many words have
been used to discuss this source of wisdom and power. Indeed, Viktor
Fankl referred to is as the noetic dimension. Frankl wanted to call
it the spirit but this raised religious suggestions which he felt
would turn many people off, around the end of W.W.II when he made
his discovery of it.
The story concludes with Cindy leaving the dance in a hurry, dropping
her glass slipper in the haste. However, she succeeded in following
FGM's instructions and was not embarrassed. The WSM insisted the
sisters try on the Glass Slipper, to no avail. The Prince's messenger,
however, tested Cindy and found the unique match.
For the child to hear this message of uniqueness and fulfillment,
is to leave them with an unstoppable urge to listen for their Inner
Voice and obey instructions! Thank
you for sharing this treasure.
Now continue with a more difficult, but
more profound Greek myth of Perseus
